Eve's POV

I lived a pretty good life up until then. It wasn't glorious but it wasn't the worst either. And Amy had done so much for me, I would have died for her any day. When I was lying painfully on the grassy pasture below, I pictured all the great times we had together. When we were six and had the Popsicle eating contest, when we were fourteen and ran home everyday just to catch our favorite television program together and even when we had won the science fair all four years in High School. But one of the best moments I had ever spent with her, one of the best moments of my life was when we finally got to go to PAX, just like we dreamed of when we were younger. That was the final image in my head when I lost consciousness.

"Eve...you've...y-you've gotta wake up..."

I heard a sniffling noise, and the voice belonged to Amy, but she never cried. EVER.

"A-after all we've been through...you've gotta pull through this..."

I was enraged that I couldn't leap up and constrict her in a hug. I shouted that I was alright over and over again, but the calls just bounced off the inner walls of my head.

When I finally woke up, I was in a tent. I was still fairly weak mind you, but I was glad to be alive – in fact, I should have been dead. As I opened my eyes slowly, I saw the blurry image of Josh sitting by my bedside. Softly uncurling my stiff wrist, I placed a hand on his arm and smiled warmly in his direction. He looked over, and grinned like I had never seen him grin before.

"SHE'S WAKING UP!" He screamed, and I heard the fleeting footsteps of the others dash over from their locations.

I didn't remember much of them entering, probably because Josh kissed my forehead and almost made me pass out once more. Amy had tears glistening in her eyes when she entered, and barged her way to the front of the group, kneeling at the foot of my "bed".

"You doing alright pal?" She inquired. I chuckled.

"Yeah." I replied, smiling shyly.

"You really scared me..." She said, putting a hand up to her heart.

I didn't reply, but as the others shuffled out of the tent, I was helped up by Josh for the second time, the first being when he accidentally knocked me over. We sort of stood in silence for a few moments, before I latched onto him, wrapping him into a hug. I murmured something about thanking him for carrying me to the tent, and left abruptly to figure out where we were. I suddenly realized my legs felt like gelatin.

I don't remember much of the next few hours, but I remember the drilling training we did. Hours upon end of sharpening our skills and collecting our thoughts. I even learned how to transform into Sheik, Zelda's other form. And when the stars popped out into the sky, Emile and Amy traveled up to the hillside. I stood lonesome on a hilltop, intricately studying the shiny dots poking through the seams of the darkness. They twinkled down at me, assuring me that everything would be alright. The problem was I didn't know if it would be.

"I thought I might find you here."

I turned around, letting my jet black hair swish behind me.

"I l-like them..." I said, shying away like a violet. "T-the stars..."

Josh drew up next to me, also gazing at the shimmering polka dots. We stood in silence for a while, just studying the constellations. The big dipper, the little dipper, and even a shooting star bolted down from the sky above. Scooting behind me, Josh put his hands over my eyes.

"Make a wish!" He said, laughing.

I squeezed my eyes shut, and thought of the only wish I wanted. I wanted to be happy, no matter how that was achieved. I wanted my friends to be safe. I wanted Emile and Amy to be happy together. And I wanted Josh to be happy.

"Okay!" I replied, pulling his hands off.

"Wait!" Josh said, instantly clapping one palm over my eyes.

I giggled, and listened to him digging around in his pockets, searching for something. As he slowly uncurled his palm, I saw a single lily clasped in his hand, out in front of me. No words came out of our mouths, and I reached a shaky hand out to grab it's stem.  Once I had a firm grip on it, he let go, and walked around to look at my expression.

"You have the most gorgeous eyes I have ever seen." He said simply, shoving his hands in his pockets.

My face greased into a pathetic smile. I had never heard anyone say anything that nice to me ever, and for once in my life I didn't feel so shy around Josh. I felt like I could trust him, and tell him anything knowing it would be kept a secret. I threw my arms around him, and kissed him on the cheek. Tightly squeezing him, I referenced back to the sky, thanking it a thousand times over for the happiness it blessed me with.

"D'aww..." Amy said, standing at the foot of the hill.

A shade of red hazed over my cheeks, and I released Josh from the death hold I held him in earlier. Letting the warmth of his brown eyes plunge me into the darkness, I smiled. That night was probably the happiest of my life. And then the next morning, Amy wouldn't stop bothering me.

"C'mon, tell me the details!" She demanded, incessantly poking me as we walked towards the stream.

"It's private!" I replied, swinging the bucket in my hands.

"Eve, I will find out what happened on that hill. MARK MY WORDS." She commanded.

"Fine then, but you're not gonna hear it from me!" I replied, being just as stubborn.

"You know I have sources." Amy said deviously.

Before I could reply, my foot tripped over the mountain and I plummeted off the clifftop. JUST. MY. LUCK.
